Katy is passionate about the benefits of exercise and nutrition for lifelong health. She discovered her interest in the connection between mind and body as a teenager when she realized exercise improved her mood. Katy has attended UNC for both undergraduate in Psychology, with honors, and graduate school in Public Health (2011), and worked at Duke at the Brain Imaging and Analysis Center and major research hospital. She has worked as a medical weight loss counselor and trainer for over 15 years, and has received and maintains certifications in Strength Coaching, as a Nutrition Specialist, and an Olympic Weightlifting Coach. After creating a 12-week nutrition and exercise program in graduate school and working for several years as a medical weight loss counselor for Sona Med Spa, Katy opened WellLife Consulting, LLC in 2014 to help individuals, athletes, and corporate groups achieve long-term health and exercise goals.

In addition to her academic background, Katy's lifelong participation in sports, leadership, and athlete development have been the foundation for her approach to working with clients and athletes. After competing at the high school varsity level in basketball, volleyball, and soccer, Katy was all-region and captain of Pleaides UNC ultimate Frisbee team for their first ever college nationals appearance in 2002. She competed on women's club teams for over 15 years, winning the international tournament Paganello in 2009 and receiving 2nd (Backhoe, 2005) and 3rd (Phoenix, 2011) at USA nationals.

Katy has authored ultimate Frisbee nutrition articles (2011-2015) and developed ultimate Frisbee-specific workout plans, fitness testing, and injury prevention protocols for athletes and teams. Katy has coached at all levels including middle school, high school, college, and professional for the Charlotte Express in 2014-16, and currently coaches the Emerson Waldorf High School ultimate Frisbee team.

In her free time Katy enjoys singing, playing the guitar, biking, snowboarding, and volunteering for girls ultimate.
